A popular grocery store is planning on opening an 84,000 square foot location at Hoffman Town Center. That’s right, Wegmans is coming to Alexandria’s Carlyle neighborhood! Wegmans will be on the 2nd floor of the project, below approximately 750 residential condo and apartment units. The first floor of the project will be used to accommodate approximately 200,000 square feet of additional retail. This would be Wegmans first location in the City of Alexandria. Developer StonebridgeCarras plans to break ground by late 2019 in the hopes of delivering the project in the fall of 2021. In the past, the relocation of the PTO and NSF have been key drivers of development activity in the City of Alexandria, bringing nearly 15,000 jobs to the City combined. Amazon and the new Virginia Tech Campus are continuing this momentum of increased development, and look to be key economic drivers in the positive absorption of new residential and office developments in the greater Alexandria area.
